Hart's Pass Road is considered one of the most treacherous roads in Washington. It is a true "white knuckler" to all but the mountain goats, reaching an elevation of almost 7300'
During the gold mining boom in the late 1800s, Hart's Pass Road was as narrow as 26" across. An entire team of horses slipped off the road here and tumbled to their deaths. Now ya can't get horses to visit the place.

The Ghost Town of Chancellor finally faded into oblivion when the gold dried up and its isolation made hauling freight next to impossibe. Ruins of the town remain for the ghost-towner tenaious enough to find them (hint: they lie 15 miles beyond Hart's Pass).
